Volleyball Posts 0-2 Mark at Tri-Match
Providence, RI 10/06/07 - The Clark University womens volleyball team posted an 0-2 mark at the Rhode Island College tri-match held at The Murray Center on Saturday. Rhode Island College took two matches to raise their record to 13-9 on the season. Eastern Nazarene (6-10) went 1-1, while Clark dropped to 4-13.
In the day¹s first action, the Anchorwomen swept Clark, 3-0 (30-24, 30-22, 30-15), including a decisive game three victory. Sophomore outside hitter Emily Visone (West Hempstead, NY) posted six kills and eight digs, while sophomore setter Kylie Kutney (Commerce, MI) registered 18 assists for the Cougars.
Senior middle blocker Kimiyo Garcia (Riverside, RI) and sophomore outside hitter Desiree Georges (Woonsocket, RI) led RIC offensively, posting 17 and 10 kills, respectively. Garcia also led the team with five aces and seven digs. Freshman setter Nicole Enos (Coventry, RI) handed out a team-high 19 assists.
Although Clark made each game close, Eastern Nazarene kept the Cougars off the scoreboard once again, winning 3-0 (32-30, 30-28, 32-30). Senior middle blocker Sarah Hunsucker (Orinda, Cali.) had 11 kills to lead Clark. Visone had 21 digs and sophomore Brittany Meadows (Los Angeles, Cali.) finished with 12 digs.
Freshman middle blocker Cassandra Auguste (Montgomery Village, MD) led the Crusaders with 19 kills. Junior setter Christina Ludwick (Meredith, NH) dished out 24 assists, while freshman outside hitter Allison Aupperlee (Quincy, MA) posted 19 digs.
In other matches, the Anchorwomen closed out the day's action, sweeping Eastern Nazarene, 3-0 (30-24, 30-25, 30-13). It was the fourth consecutive shutout win for the team. Garcia and Georges led the way once again with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Garcia filled out the box score with a team-high seven service aces and eight digs. Enos posted 18 assists.
Junior outside hitter Janna Fernandes (Taunton, MA) and freshman middle blocker Amber Burns (Fall River,MA) led the Crusaders with five kills apiece. Ludwick registered 16 assists.
Clark will host Mt. Holyoke on Senior Night Tuesday (7 p.m.).
