Volleyball Sweeps Newbury College, 3-0

BROOKLINE, MASS. 09/27/07 - The Clark University women’s volleyball team swept Newbury College, 3-0, in non-conference action in Brookline, Mass., on Thursday evening. Game scores were 33-31, 30-18 and 30-24.

Kylie Kutney (Commerce, MI/Walled Lake) led Clark to victory by directing the offense with 22 assists. Kate Head (Lexington, MA/Lexington) and Emily Corbett (Rose Valley, PA/ Strath Haven) supplied five and three kills, respectively, for the Cougars.

Emily Mullin (Ashland, MA/Norfolk Agricultural) led Newbury with 11 kills and two blocks. Sarah Nelson (Bernadston, MA/Pioneer Valley) also played well during the match, compiling a team-leading 26 assists. Sandra Karalekas (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) finished with 24 digs to lead the Newbury defense.

Winners of two of its last three games, Clark improves to 4-8. Newbury drops to 3-10.

Clark will host a tri-match on Parent and Family Weekend this Saturday. The Cougars will face Keene State College at Noon and will play Westfield State at 4 p.m.
