Field Hockey Falls to #14 Williams College
Williamstown, MA - Led by upperclassmen, the nationally ranked Williams College field hockey team posted a 5-0 shutout victory over Clark University on Thursday night.
Williams remains unbeaten (5-0), while Clark drops to 3-3.
The Cougars managed to hold Williams scoreless until junior Meighan McGowan scored off a rebound with 2:15 left in the first half. The Ephs went into the half with a 1-0 lead.
The second half really opened things up for the Ephs, as they exploded for three goals within a 10 minute span. Junior Sally Cobb scored off a feed from McGowan at 39:36 for a 2-0 lead. Senior K.K. Kreig followed up with a goal from the stroke line and senior Cary Bearn added to the lead at 49:49. Junior Julia Nawrocki capped the offensive attack with just 5:45 remaining in the game.
Lindsay Jones and Bethany Baker split time in the cage for the Ephs. Jones played the first half, making 2 saves, and Baker played the second half, seeing no shots. Sophomore keeper Kathryn Dawsey turned aside seven shots for Clark.
Williams out shot the Cougars, 23-2.
Clark returns to action when it takes on Wheelock College next Thursday (7 p.m.).
