Women's Rowing Conclude Season at New England Championships
WORCESTER, MASS. 5/6/07 The Clark University womens rowing team concluded its season with a strong showing at the New England Rowing Championships this past weekend.
The womens varsity eight, comprised of coxswain Christina Lyman, Sarah Brooks, Kasia Baca, Sara Fealhaber, Kate Dorsey, Laurel Holden, Mika Kuwahara, Rachel Goldin and Missy Merger finished fifth with a time of 7:25.9 in the third heat.
I was extremely happy with the teams heat results, said head coach Erick Thiemke. It was the fastest time Clark has produced in my four-year tenure.
The Cougars competed in the third level final with a third place (7:26.6) performance. Simmons College won the event in a time of 7:12.1 and WPI placed second (7:21.1). It was Clarks closest finish (5.5 seconds) behind WPI this season.
Seniors Missy Merger and Mika Kuwahara were recognized for rowing in their final race prior to the championships.
