Swimming & Diving: Garcia Named NEWMAC Diver of the Week

Worcester, Mass. - Sophomore sensation Eileen Garcia (New York, N.Y.) has been named the first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Diver of the Week for the 2009-10 season it was announced by the conference office.

Garcia finished first in both the one-meter and three-meter dive events in the Cougars' first dual meet of the season - a 185-100 win over Babson on Saturday, October 24.

On the three-meter board, she achieved the NCAA qualifying standard totaling a score of 281.60 on six dives. Then on the one-meter, she racked up a score of 254.85 on six dives, totaling 18 points for the hosts.

Garcia, who earned All-America honors on the three-meter board last season, holds Clark records in both the three-meter (439.45) and the one-meter (442.60) diving events.

Clark returns to the pool on Saturday, November 14 with a home dual meet against Roger Williams.
