Women's Soccer: Clark Named NEWMAC Player of the Week
Worcester, Mass. - Clark University senior goalkeeper Joanna Clark (Windham, Maine) has been named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer player of the week it was announced by the conference office on Monday.
Clark posted back-to-back shutouts during a 1-0-1 week for the surging Cougars, who now at 3-0-1 in conference play, sit atop the league standings.
In a scoreless tie with host Springfield, Clark turned away ten shots as the Cougars snapped an 11-match winless streak to the defending NEWMAC Champions.
Then in a 1-0 win over visiting Babson, she made six saves to record her third consecutive shutout, extending Clark's unbeaten streak to five games - a stretch in which they have outscored their opponents 10-1 and she has posted four shutouts.
Clark hasn't allowed a goal since the first half of the Western Connecticut match on October 3rd, a span of 363:02 minutes of game action.
A two-time All-NEWMAC second-team honoree, Clark has 17 career shutouts, including five this season.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday when they host NEWMAC foe Smith.
