Men's Soccer: Klapp Your Hands - Junior Nets Golden Goal In 2-1 Win

Worcester, Mass. - Junior Kyle Klapp (Guilderland, N.Y.) scored his second career goal late in the first overtime to propel the Clark University men's soccer team to a dramatic 2-1 win in a key non-conference matchup over visiting Brandeis on Sunday afternoon on Granger Field.

The win was the third straight for the Cougars who will now play eight of their next ten games at home after playing three of their first four games away from Granger Field.

Graduate student Mike Trobagis (Acton, Mass.) scored his fifth goal of the season with help from Tim Doenmez (Dublin, N.H.) early in the second half to give Clark a 1-0 lead.

The Judges fought back and evened the score with a goal from Matt Peabody, who was set up by Sam Ocel in the 71st minute.

The action started early in overtime as the Cougars' Jeremy Radovsky (San Francisco, Calif.) looked as if he would end the game with a header attempt but Brandeis goalkeeper Matt Lynch made an excellent save to keep the game tied.

The Judges has their own shot at ending the contest moments later when Ocel was one-on-one with Clark keeper Ryan King (Brimfield, Mass.) on the left side of the goal but was turned away.

Klapp then scored the game winner after picking up a loose ball and splitting a pair of defenders before firing a shot past Lynch at 96:27.

King made four saves in goal, while Lynch sent back a pair for Brandeis, who falls to 0-2-1 on the season.

Clark is back in action on Wednesday when they host Rhode Island College at 6:00 p.m.
