Blake Earns NFCA Softball All-Region Honors

WORCESTER, MASS. 05/11/09 - Junior Lauren Blake was named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-New England first-team at-large selection, it was announced on Monday.

One of the region's best players, Blake, an Oakland, Maine native, led the team at the plate with 122 at-bats for a team-best in hits (48), doubles (12), runs scored (24) and total bases (60) en route to a .393 batting average. She ranked atop of the league in hits (24), doubles (7), at-bats (62) and total plate appearances, and finished fourth in runs scored (14) and total bases (31) and sixth in hitting (.387) at the end of the regular season. As Clark's lead-off hitter, Blake has collected 17 multiple hit games, hit safely in 13 NEWMAC contests, and had a seven-game hit streak for a team-best .492 slugging percentage and .439 on-base percentage. The best defensive player on the team, the second-baseman recorded 111 putouts, 61 assists - 37 in the NEWMAC, which was good for fifth in the category, and yielded just six errors.

This marks her third appearance on the All-Region squad. She was a first-team pick last year and a first-team at-large selection as a freshman.

Clark finished third in the conference with a 10-6 record.
