Campbell and Roche Earn Lacrosse All-Conference Honors
WORCESTER, MASS. 05/04/09 - Clark University's Tyler Campbell and Tim Roche have been named to the Pilgrim League Men's Lacrosse All-Conference second team, it was announced on Monday. Both players are making their first appearance on the All-Star squad.
Campbell, a senior goalkeeper from Portland, Ore., ranked second in the league in saves per game (12.27) this spring en route to a school record in career saves with 635. The co-captain and four-year starter recorded double-digit saves in 11 of 15 contests this year, including a season-high 23 stops against Springfield College. Campbell, who tied for third on the squad in groundballs, was also named the team's Most Valuable Player.
Originally from Centerport, N.Y., Roche, an All-Conference pre-season favorite, earned the nod after setting a new Clark record for groundballs in a season with 111. Splitting time at long-stick midfield and close defense this year, Roche led the league in groundballs per game with 7.00 and scooped up a season-best 15 against Babson College - good for second on Clark's all-time list.
