Rowing Competes at New England Championships

WORCESTER, MASS. 5/4/09 - The Clark University men's rowing varsity four had a strong showing at the New England Rowing Championships this past weekend.

The group of Lillian Chaleff, Russell Giacobbe, Matt Lavigne, Mike Smith, Andrew Newton placed third in their heat with a time of 7:04.01, defeating the University of Connecticut, Boston College and Franklin Pierce.

In the petite finals, Clark finished third in a time of 7:11.2. The University of Vermont won the race in 6:56.6.

Gen DeAngelis, Katy Nowoswiat, Kasia Baca, Rachel Goldin, Sarah Shepro made up the women's varsity four that took third in their heat in 8:16.0. In the petite finals, the Cougars finished fourth (8:25.9) in the seven-team field.

The women's second varsity four team of Alyssa Shapiro, Amy Saba, Ann Rokosky, Lily Morganstern, Jess Baker placed sixth (9:15.3) in the finals only event.
