Hollingsworth & DiMarco Earn NEWMAC Baseball Honors

WORCESTER, MASS. 4/28/09 - Clark University's Scott Hollingsworth and Phillip DiMarco have been named to the 2009 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference baseball team, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday. Hollingsworth earned first-team honors, while DiMarco nabbed second-team recognition.

Originally from Tilton, N.H., Hollingsworth became the first Clark player named to the first-team all-star squad since Scott Archibald '06 in 2005. The sophomore outfielder led the team at the plate for the second straight season with 16 multiple hit games for a .402 batting average (.429 in the NEWMAC), a .497 on-base percentage and 32 runs scored. Hollingsworth also tied his previous school record in hits in a season with 47 and ranked second on the team in doubles with 12  six of those came in conference play where he also tops the category. In the NEWMAC, Hollingsworth tied for second in hits (18) and received runner-up in on-base percentage (.520); third in batting average (.429) and finished in the top-10 in total bases (24) and slugging (.571). Converting from second base to an outfielder this year, Hollingsworth has racked up on defense with a .966 fielding percentage and has been perfect in stolen bases (8-8).





DiMarco, an outfielder from Bellingham, Mass., became the school record-holder in triples in a season with eight this spring, breaking an eight-year old mark. He tied the team with the longest hitting streak with base-knocks in 12 straight games en route to a .364 batting average and also led the NEWMAC in triples with three. He ranked second on the team in slugging percentage (.591%) and third in RBI (25). DiMarco's knack for hitting three-baggers also helped Clark to a new single-season team record in triples with 21.
