Garr Races at NCAA Swim & Dive Championships
MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. 3/21/09 - Freshman Ryan Garr finished 22nd in the preliminaries in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:52.16 at the NCAA Division III swimming and diving championships on Saturday afternoon at the University of Minnesota's Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
Originally from Kingston, R.I., Garr was the first Clark swimmer to qualify for nationals since L. Parker Barnum '04 in 2003. He broke his own school record with his 31st place finish (52.01) in the 100-back yesterday.
Garr concludes his first-year with a 200-yard backstroke NEWMAC Championship title and three new school marks.
