Women's Basketball Falls to Calvin College on Winter Break Trip

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. 12/29/08 - The Clark University women's basketball team dropped a 71-35 decision to Calvin College (Mich.) in the opening round of the Land of Magic Classic held on Monday morning in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Clark (3-6) trailed from the start and fell behind 37-10 by half-time.

All 15 players saw action in the contest. Freshman guard Michelle Chambers (Bronx, N.Y.) was the Cougars' top scorer with six points off the bench. Junior Jillian Camilleri (Lancaster, Mass.) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Calvin (6-3) was led by junior Brook VanEck (Lowell, Mich.) with 10 points and six boards. Senior Kristi Brummel (Byron Center, Mich.) added nine points, while junior Amber Benthem (McBain, Mich.) corralled a team-best seven rebounds and six assists.

Clark will face Ohio Northern University on Tuesday (10 a.m.).
