Fair Named NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week

WORCESTER, MASS. 10/28/08 - Clark University's Maritza Fair was named the women's volleyball New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday. This marks the first time Clark has received the honor since Kate Weiss '03 during the 2000 season.

Fair, originally from the Bronx, N.Y., averaged 3.20 digs and 3.60 kills per game with a .300 hitting percentage to lead Clark to a 3-1 mark last week. She had three double-digit performances on the week, including 16 kills and 11 digs in a 3-2 win over WPI; 13 kills and 14 digs in a victory against Pine Manor; and 13 kills and 10 digs against Trinity College last Saturday. The junior outside hitter also recorded four service aces during the week. Fair now owns a team-best nine double-doubles on the season and boasts a team-high 3.59 kills per game.

Clark (11-11, 2-5 NEWMAC) will host Wheaton College on Senior Night this evening.
