Sephton & Evanter Lead Cross Country at WNEC Invitational
SPRINGFIELD, MASS. 10/18/08 - Clark University's Kaitlyn Sephton placed 13th out of 150 runners with a personal best time of 20:54 on the Western New England College Invitational's 5,000-meter course on Saturday afternoon.
The senior runner helped Clark to a fifth place finish (185 points) in the 20-team field. Salve Regina captured the team title after landing two runners in the top-five.
Sephton was joined by teammates Emma Siemasko (30th/21:44), Andrea DeRocco (49th/22:37), Alexandrea Casey (53rd/22:53), and Amanda Haimes (58th/23:00.50).
Maggie Klein of Castleton State was the individual winner, covering the course in 19:13.
Senior Caleb Evanter continues his stellar performance on the men's side this season. The Marblehead, Mass. native finished fifth with a season best time of 27:12 to help Clark place eighth out of 16 teams.
The Cougars also had solid performances from Bob Naughton, who took 28th (29:18), followed by Patrick O'Neil (51st/30:46), Nathaniel Noton-Freeman (64th/31:28) and Lee Stone (72nd/32:49), making his first appearance in Clarks top-five finishers this fall.
Running unattached, Victor Kembol placed first (25:08), while American International College won the team title with 71 points.
Clark will race at the NEWMAC Championship meet at MIT on Saturday, Nov. 1.
