Women's Volleyball Takes Three from UMass-Dartmouth

WORCESTER, MASS. 10/18/08 - The Clark University women's volleyball team got back on the winning track with a 3-0 non-conference victory over UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon at the Kneller Athletic Center. Game scores were 26-24, 25-21, and 25-18.

Clark moved to 8-10 overall, while UMD dropped to 10-9.

Newcomer Kristin McGinty (Gypsum, Colo.) and junior Emily Visone (West Hempstead, N.Y.) registered season-highs to lead Clark. McGinty had 13 kills and five blocks, while Visone finished with 27 digs. First-year Nichole Lopez (Alameda, Cali.) also had a stellar day with 29 assists.

For UMass-Dartmouth, senior Hilary Teichert (Pocasset, Mass.) had eight kills and five blocks in the losing effort. Classmate Mellanie Staiger (Bournedale, Mass.) chipped in with 15 assists.

Clark will play at cross-town rival WPI in a NEWMAC match on Tuesday (7 p.m.). UMass-Dartmouth will host Wentworth that same night at 7 p.m.
