Volleyball Posts 2-0 Mark at Eastern Nazarene Tri-Match

QUINCY, MASS. 10/4/08 - The Clark University women's volleyball team posted a 2-0 mark in a tri-match held at Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars defeated both Rhode Island College and host ENC by identical scores of 3-1.

With the victories, Clark improved to 7-8 overall.

Clark took the first two games from RIC, 25-16 and 25-18, before dropping the third game, 11-25. The Cougars then went on to win the fourth set, 25-22.

Junior Maritza Fair (Bronx, N.Y.) continued her stellar play to lead Clark with 18 kills to go along with 18 digs, while teammate Nichole Lopez (Alameda, Cali.) recorded 40 assists. Junior Emily Visone (West Hempstead, N.Y.) contributed with 19 digs.

In the second match of the day, Clark defeated Eastern Nazarene, 3-1 (25-19, 26-28, 25-16, 25-23). First-years Kristin McGinty (Gypsum, Colo.), Amira Tranchell (Falmouth, Mass.), and Kortney Kelley (Cummaquid, Mass.) paced the Cougars. McGinty had nine kills and four blocks; Tranchell chipped in with four kills; and Kelley added five digs and one service ace.

Clark will play at Coast Guard Academy in a conference match on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
