Men's Cross Country Place 4th at Worcester City Meet

Paxton, MA --- Senior's Keith Flanders (Westford, MA; 27:59) and Kevin Jillson (E. Sandwich, MA; 28:00) along with junior Dan Duffty (Haverhill, MA; 28:21) notched the top three spots in this morning 2008 Worcester City Cross Country Championships as WPI took their 36th title since the race was started in 1967. The Engineers totaled up 21 points while Fitchburg State (57) edged out Assumption (58) and Clark finished the race with 104. Host Worcester State and Anna Maria both competed but did not have enough runners to qualify for a finishing spot.

Also for the Crimson and Gray, junior Chris Gabrielson (Westford, MA) placed seventh (28:39) while freshmen Michael Boucher (East Lyme, MA) and Craig Mitchell (Hanson, MA) took 10th (28:59) and 14th (29:26), respectively.

Sophomore's Peter Brown (Andover, MA) and Mike Ashman (Weatogue, CT) each recorded 15th (29:14) and 19th (30:00) to round out the top seven finishers for the Boynton Hillers.

Sophomore's Matt Spano (Gardner, MA) and Kyle Shaeffer (Hudson, MA) each crossed the line in sixth (28:37) and eighth (28:42) for the Falcons while senior Phil McCormack (Fitchburg, MA) placed 13th (29:23). Senior Keon Valcourt (Brockton, MA) and junior Tim Wood (Holden, MA) also took 17th (29:43) and 18th (29:54) for FSC.

The Greyhound's were led by freshman Kyle Higgins (Braintree, MA) who tallied fourth place with a time of 28:29. Freshman classmates Patrick Erban (Attleboro, MA), Peter Jusseaume (Marshfield, MA), and Christopher Trajkovsky (Wilbraham, MA) all took home ninth (28:54), 12th (29:07) and 16th (29:43), respectively.

Other schools top finishers included Lancer senior Forest Wilbur (Barre, MA) who finished in fifth place (28:36), while Clark senior Caleb Evanter (Marblehead, MA) registered 11th (29:01) and Anna Maria freshman Walson Constant (Lawrence, MA) was 64th with a time of 36:23.
