Field Hockey Blanks Regis College, 3-0
WORCESTER, MASS. 09/25/08 - The Clark University field hockey team snapped a two-game losing skid with a 3-0 shutout victory over Regis College in non-conference action on Thursday night at Granger Field. Clark evens its record at 3-3 overall, while Regis remains winless (0-9).
First-year forward Meghan Lennon (Charlton, Mass.) scored a pair of goals to lead the Cougars.
Junior Carley Corkum (Newbury, Mass.) scored following a scramble in front of the net with 4:32 left in the first half to put Clark on the board. The Cougars held the 1-0 advantage heading into the break.
Lennon tipped in a pass from Alison Foley (Arlington, Va.) for her first goal of the night at the 25:09 mark of the second half, and later knocked in a rebound with just over 14 minutes remaining to complete the scoring. She leads the team with six points on two goals and two assists.
Junior Kathryn Dawsey (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) did not face a shot in goal to record her third shutout of the year. Senior Kristin Tavares (Accushnet, Mass.) had an outstanding night in goal with 16 saves.
Clark will host Anna Maria College on Saturday (Noon).
