Cross Country Competes at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS. 09/20/08 - The Clark University men's cross and women's country team competed at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The men placed 24th of 38 teams, while the women's team finished 31st in a 41 team-field.

Senior Caleb Evanter crossed the finish line first for the Cougars. He placed 78th in a time of 26:43 in the five-mile race. Martin Leggett was the second Clark runner to finish with his 127th place finish (27:44). Matt Diamond placed 188th (29:22); Cory Leonard was 196th (29:37), and Patrick O'Neil took 211th (30:10).

Northeastern's Teddy Vrountas won the race in 25:05. Keene State College claimed the team championship with 85 points.

MIT captured the title on the womens side with 67 points.

Isabell Burgess paced Clark with a 98th place finish in the women's 5k run. She finished in a time of 20:05. Other top finishers for the Cougars included Emma Siemasko (179th/21:33); Kaitlyn Sephton (188th/21:39); Brooke Badon (242nd/22:46) and Andrea DeRocco (256th/23:11).

Clark will race at the Worcester City Meet next Saturday at Moore State Park.
