Carter Earns NEWMAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

WORCESTER, MASS. 04/15/08 - Clark University's Sarah Carter was named softball co-pitcher of the week by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), it was announced on Tuesday.

Originally from Worcester, Mass., Carter posted a 0.58 ERA, allowing one earned run on seven hits while striking out two and not issuing a walk in 12.0 innings pitched. The first-year hurler pitched the program's first-ever perfect game in a five-inning 9-0 win over Worcester State last Tuesday. She fanned one batter in the perfect game effort. Carter scattered seven hits, gave up one earned run and struck out one in a loss to Wheaton (3-0). She shares the NEWMAC honor with Wellesley pitcher Jenna Harvey.

Clark (17-9, 7-5 NEWMAC) will host MIT for a key conference doubleheader on Friday.
