Men's Swim and Dive Place Sixth at Championships
CAMBRIDGE, MASS. 03/02/08 - The Clark University men's swimming and diving team finished sixth at the three-day New England Womens and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships held at MIT this weekend.
Coast Guard Academy finished with 991 points to claim its third consecutive NEWMAC title. Clark, which finished with 244 points, placed sixth for the third straight year.
Junior Drew Jackson placed fourth in the 200-yard backstroke (1:59.94) to lead the Cougars. Freshman Dan Howard took 10th in the event with a time of 2:03.52.
Jackson was also a member of the seventh place (3:22.21) 400-yard freestyle relay team of Mike Smith, Brian Walsh, and Taylor Morono.
Smith placed 12th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.86); Howard was 13th in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.49); and Walsh and Tim O'Keefe finished 15th (17:57.76) and 16th (18:11.23), respectively, in the 1,650-yard freestyle to round out Clark's top finishers.
