Men's Swim and Dive Post a Pair of All-Time Top-Five Finishes at NEWMAC's
CAMBRIDGE, MASS. 02/29/08 - The Clark University men's swim and dive team saw an individual and relay team post all-time top-five finishes at day one of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships held at MIT on Friday.
Junior Drew Jackson broke his own all-time top-five time in the 200-yard individual medley with his 13th place finish (2:02.23), and also joined Mike Smith, Dan Howard and Brian Walsh for sixth in the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 3:47.02 good for fifth on Clark's all-time list.
Taylor Morono, Curtis Reid, Howard and Walsh teamed up for a seventh place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:34.44).
After five events, Clark holds the seventh place spot with 77 points, just five points behind Wheaton in sixth and seven points from Babson in fifth. Coast Guard Academy, the defending NEWMAC champs, leads the pack with 304 points.
The NEWMAC Championships will continue on Saturday morning, with the prelims for the 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke commencing at 11:00 a.m. The three-meter diving trials will begin at 1:30 p.m., while the finals for all of the afternoon's swimming events, plus the 800-yard freestyle relay, will begin at 6:30 p.m.
