Women's Basketball Drops Second Straight

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Clark University women's basketball team dropped its second straight game with a 64-58 non-conference loss to Bowdoin College on Wednesday evening. The Polar Bears, who used an 18-2 second-half run to secure the victory, improve to 12-4 this season with their seventh-straight win. Clark drops to 6-9 overall.

Bowdoin jumped out to the lead thanks to the sharpshooting of Katie Bergeron, who connected on a pair of three-pointers to give the Polar Bears an early 11-2 edge. The Cougars clawed back, using a 15-5 run to take a brief 17-16 advantage with 9:24 left in the half. Maria Noucas regained the lead for Bowdoin with a three-pointer on the next possession and the hosts held a 29-24 lead at the break.

Clark charged out of the gate in the second half, tying the contest on a three-pointer from Sara Hagstrom and taking the lead on a trifecta by Katie McCloskey with 16:00 to go. The teams traded the lead for the next few minutes before Bowdoin clinched the game with the decisive run.

Down 38-37, the Polar Bears went on an 18-2 surge, keyed by consecutive three-pointers from Bergeron, Noucas and Anelauskas to take a 55-40 lead with 8:49 to go. Clark chipped away at the lead late, but could get no closer than six points in the closing moments.

Clark had two players in double figures, led by 22 points and 11 rebounds from Sara Roderigue. Sara Hagstrom posted a career-high 17 points and four assists in the loss.
