NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS. 09/15/07 - Graduate student Emily Tremaine raced to a 38th place finish to lead the Clark University women's cross country team at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougar women finished 14th in the 29-team field. Amherst College took the top honor.
Tremaine crossed the finish line in a time of 19:28 in the 5k race. Teammate Ellen Durand edged teammate Mary Martin for 90th (20:34), while Martin took 93rd in a time of 20:35. Kaitlyn Sephton (128th/21:35) and Jenna Glazer (145th/21:51) round out the top-five Clark finishers.
Keene State's Jennifer Adams won the race in 17:45.
On the five-mile course, Thomas McCarthy placed 62nd (26:50) to lead the Clark men. Caleb Evanter was 91st (27:41); John Frederickson placed 135th (28:56); Bob Naughton took 148th (29:27) and Patrick O'Neil finished 172nd (30:28).
Led by Hunter Norte, the first place finisher, Trinity College captured the mens title with 55 points. Clark took 17th of 31 teams.
Clark will be back on the trails next Saturday at the Worcester City Meet.
