Wilson to discuss controversial book, 'Politics of Truth,' Oct. 17
Foreign policy expert and former U.S. Ambassador Joseph Wilson IV will be at Clark University to discuss his controversial memoir, "The Politics of Truth: Inside the Lies that Led to War and Betrayed My Wife's CIA Identity," at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 17, in the Daniels Theater in Atwood Hall. Wilson comes to Clark as part of the President's Lecture Series and as part of an ongoing series of events this year focused on the war in Iraq. This event is free and open to the public.
During his highly-decorated career, Wilson held many senior government posts. He is now at the center of a major political maelstrom involving the White House, the C.I.A. and the second gulf war in Iraq. At the podium, Wilson lays out his side of the controversy in an enlightening, incisive presentation. Drawing from his new memoir, "The Politics of Truth," he takes audiences inside two decades of world politics. Jonas Clark Fellows at Worcester Art Museum and Tuckerman Hall
More than 140 alumni, parents and friends were honored on Sept. 24 for their annual leadership support of Clark. The group was joined by some of Clark's student leaders.
Jonas Clark Fellows, those donors who make annual gifts of $2,000 or more, provide nearly 70 percent of the total gifts for the Clark Fund. In recognition of their support, Fellows were invited to the Worcester Art Museum to view "Hope and Healing: Painting in Italy in a Time of Plague 1500-1800" and meet co-curator Gauvin Bailey, associate director of art history at Clark. This was followed by dinner at the newly-restored Tuckerman Hall.
The next event will be held in spring 2006 in New York City. For information about joining the Jonas Clark Fellows, please contact Rachel Larkin Jackson '93 at rjackson@clarku.edu or 508-793-7513.
Going for the Gold Program making strides
The Going for the Gold program is Clark's new undergraduate philanthropic program. For the first time in Clark's history, the Clark Fund is asking students to give out of their pockets to their senior class gift to help cultivate a spirit of philanthropy among students. And it's working. During a Battle of the Quads contest to see which quad-Alden or Fuller-could raise the most money, students who passed by Wright and Bullock halls were asked if they'd given to their senior class gift yet. In two days, 89 students contributed a total of $465. Students were asked to give at specified Going for the Gold levels: first-years $5, sophomores $10, juniors $15 and seniors $20. Those who gave at their level are invited to a special reception with President Bassett, where there will be a raffle for Clark prizes.
