Alumni interviewers needed
The Alumni and Parent Admissions Program (APAP) needs alumni volunteers to interview Clark applicants. Interviews are highly recommended as part of the college-search process. These interviews not only help Clark to recruit qualified students, they also help applicants learn about the University and Clark experience in a very personal and meaningful way.
Clark aims to offer an interview to every student who applies to Clark, but its current volunteer force is not large enough to meet this goal. Last year, over 1,200 applicants were not offered interviews. And with the expectation that Clark Admissions will receive a record-breaking number of applications this year, the need for alumni interviewers is more critical than ever.
So how can you help? Become an APAP member. It's a meaningful and fun way to stay connected to Clark, and it demonstrates the life-long commitment to making a difference that is so much a part of the Clark experience.
To learn more about APAP or to access the online membership form, visit www.clarku.edu/joinapap. Contact APAP assistant coordinator Harriet Fresolo or director Judy Earls with any questions at
apap@clarku.edu or 1.800.GO CLARK.

Lasry Center for Bioscience gets the gold for being green
The Cathy '83 and Marc '81 Lasry Center for Bioscience received a gold rating from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. The Lasry Center for Bioscience is the first building in the city to receive the LEED Gold certification.
The LEED Gold is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
Clark named partner in Davis UWC Scholars Program
The University was named a partner in the Davis United World College Scholars Program, a program intended to help internationalize the American undergraduate experience by supporting need-based scholarships for graduates of the worldwide United World College (UWC) schools who enroll at selected American colleges and universities. Other higher education institutions added as partners for 2007-08 include MIT, Bard, Stanford, University of Chicago and University of Oklahoma. UWC schools are now in the United States, Bosnia, Canada, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Norway, Singapore, Swaziland, the United Kingdom and Venezuela.
As a result of its inclusion in the Davis UWC Scholars Program, Clark has been invited to participate in the Davis Projects for Peace initiative. This is an invitation for all Clark undergraduates to design grassroots “projects for peace.” The selected submissions will be funded at $10,000 each and implemented during the summer of 2008. The idea is to encourage and support today’s motivated youth to create and try out their ideas for building peace in the 21st century.
