How to Start a Community
The policy on what a Community needs in order to exist
- Check if there are any other communities in the area of the planned new community. If there is a community near by, a new community might not need to be created. Depending on numbers and geographic distance there is always a possibility a community can be split up to make two or more communities. If there are no communities near by, a new community could be established.
- Define the new communities geographical area. Approximate how large of an area that the community will consist of. Make sure to get the major areas of population and alumni concentration. Refer to local terminology, for an example, Bay Area, Central MA, or Metro West.
- Person or Person¹s calling to be willing to be on web site as a contact
- a. Agree to be lead contact for community
- b. List home and business address, phone and email.
- Initial plan for activities for the year
- a. Recruit new members
- b. Meeting of members
- c. Communication and possible activities
Note: Know alumni population in proposed communities prior to discussion with alumni.
