Meet Clancy Clark
Clancy Clark is the Irish Setter pup nestled in the arms of women’s basketball Head Coach Pat Glispin (center). As his name suggests, Clancy has a connection to the University and represents an important part of the Clark experience—the opportunity for students to develop meaningful relationships with their professors and coaches.
Last spring, Glispin’s 16-year-old Irish Setter died. The women on her team watched Glispin suffer the loss of a beloved pet and were moved to action. They waited until the right time, found the right litter, picked the right puppy and surprised Glispin with Clancy during the fall semester. He has been a familiar sight on campus ever since and gets at least a smile or a pat on the head from just about every passing member of the Clark community.
"I am deeply touched that the Clark community—particularly past and present women’s basketball players—have honored me with this amazing gift," Glispin says about her new companion. "It is not often that people really let you know how much they appreciate what you have done for them. This gift—with all the thought that was behind it—shows me that and more, and makes me very proud to be a part of this wonderful community."
