Libraries

The creation of new knowledge builds on the work of other scholars and creative thinkers. At Clark, several campus libraries provide extensive resources for student and faculty research and learning across all disciplines.

  • Academic Commons at Goddard Library. As the center of academic and research support services for students and faculty, Clark's recently renovated main library is a cutting-edge facility for research, teaching and learning. The Academic Commons also houses Archives and Special Collections and the Language Arts Resource Center, a collection of materials that support foreign language learning and teaching.
  • Guy Burnham Map and Aerial Photography Library. Founded in 1921 and located in the Geography Building, the Map Library is an active cartographic information center containing over 200,000 maps and aerial photographs, as well as atlases, journals, globes, map reference materials, tourist information, and U.S. government maps.
  • Carlson Science Library. A branch of Goddard Library located in the Sackler Sciences Center, Carlson Library serves the disciplines of biology, chemistry, and physics, providing full Internet access and selected science journals, monographs, and subject-specific databases.
  • Jeanne X. Kasperson Research Library. The Kasperson Library offers one of the most extensive research collections in North America on environmental risk and hazards, and human dimensions of global environmental change.
  • Rose Library. Located in Cohen-Lasry House, the Rose Library's collection covers Holocaust history, sociology, photography, memoirs, fiction, poetry, plays, psychology and religion. Included are materials relating to the Armenian genocide and other genocides in the twentieth century.
  • Traina Center Resource Library. The Resource Library houses the Visual and Performing Arts department's collection of 16mm and 35mm films, videos, DVDs, CDs, cassettes, records and slides.
  • Peace Studies Library. Located in Room 201 of Jonas Clark Hall, this library houses materials and resources useful to all students, especially those concentrating in Peace Studies.
  • College of Worcester Consortium Libraries. Clark students may borrow materials directly from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and College of the Holy Cross libraries. They may also use materials on site at the other consortium libraries or access them through interlibrary loan.
