Email journal: July 25, 2006, Worcester The past couple of weeks have been pretty good. We took a day off and had a barbeque at Rutland State Park with the EJ team. It was nice to get everyone together to relax and enjoy some burgers, dogs, and sunshine. Other than that, I've been doing a lot of outreach despite the heat! Outreach is done by going around to different block groups and knocking on the doors of randomly selected households to ask if they would be interested in doing the survey about environmental/saftey concerns. Many times we will go out and easily be able to find people interested in helping with the survey. However, the past few times I have gone out have not been very successful. Many people don't seem to be home, probably because the weather has been so nice. A few homes I have gone to also seem weary of answering the door to strangers in bright green shirts. If people do answer the door and are not interested in the survey, we choose another unit from the block group. Although the past few times haven't been too successful, I will be out and about again on Wednesday and Saturday to try and find some more surveys though, so hopefully we will have better luck! Jill |
