Proposal for Business Ethics: March 4, 2004

Client: Tammy's Salon & Spa

1200 Main Street; Worcester, MA 01603; (508) 792-1772

Description of Business: Tammy's offers complete hair care, cosmetic, massage, nail, and skin care for men and women. They also offer a large selection of retail beauty products.

Nature of the Problem: We asked Tammy if there was anything that she might need help with considering her business is fairly new. She immediately identified that her problem was in advertising to the many students in the Worcester area, as well as the rest of the community. Business is going well, but she feels that not enough people know that her business exists or what it offers.

Project Description: Our group has decided to create a website for Tammy's, give her the option of advertising in Worcester publications such as Worcester Magazine and the Telegram and Gazette, as well as create fliers to be distributed in all Clark mailboxes. In essence we are creating a marketing plan for her, in an attempt to get the word out about Tammy's Salon & Spa through these three ways of marketing.

Tasks to Complete Project: Find out the costs associated with advertising in publications; Find out the costs associated with printing/copying/distributing the fliers; Find out the costs of hosting the website on Clark Commons, Yahoo, and other possible hosts.

What we need to do is go to Tammy with several options for her to pick from.

By researching different publications, hosts, printing/copying companies, she will be able to pick the best options for her business, financially and otherwise. She is very enthusiastic about the project and has given the group complete control, leaving all the details up to us, even though she will ultimately make the final decisions. Once she has made these decisions we will have to connect the website to the chosen host, print/copy the fliers and have them distributed, and get her advertisement to the appropriate publication.

  • Deadlines:
  • 4/1 Fliers Distributed
  • 4/6 Team Progress Report
  • 4/20 Website Completed
  • 4/25 Website Online
  • 4/30 Presentation
  • Paper Due Exam Week
