The Clark University M.B.A. program develops competence in basic management functions, skill in managing organizations and an understanding of the global environment. Each graduate of Clark's M.B.A. program is able to demonstrate:
competence in the functional areas of management;
in-depth understanding of one of the functional areas of management or global business;
skill in integrating the management functions into an effective organization, and understanding the legal, political, ethical, social and environmental responsibilities of management;
appreciation of the global context in which most organizations function; and
the leadership and communication skills needed to formulate and implement management decisions.
Departmental eligibility requirements
The M.B.A. program is open to students from any undergraduate major. Prerequisite courses are required. Prospective M.B.A. students must complete ECON 010 and either MGMT 110, MATH 119 or MATH 120 with a grade of B- or higher prior to the start of their senior year (students can be enrolled in these courses in the semester that they are applying or can take them in the summer before their senior year). However, Clark's M.B.A. program has many quantitative course requirements, and students are encouraged to take at least one quantitative course during their undergraduate years to help them prepare if they have AP credit for the math prerequisite.
Program of Study
Because the M.B.A. program is highly structured, students must consider the B.A./M.B.A. option as early in their undergraduate careers as possible. The M.B.A. is 15.5 units. Students can waive up to 1.5 units of graduate coursework with specific undergraduate courses or experiences. Students must also have room in their senior year studies for 4 units of graduate coursework in order to have just 10 units of graduate courses remaining in their fifth year (the accelerated degree program covers tuition for 10 units of graduate coursework in a student’s 5th year). If a student has more than 10 units remaining, they may still take part in the accelerated M.B.A. program, but will have to pay for some 5th year coursework out of pocket.
Students can receive up to 1.5 units of course waivers through the following options:
An internship for credit, completion of a LEEP Project, or completion of an Honors Thesis can waive the 1 unit Experiential Learning Requirement course.
MGMT262 Business Ethics and Law with a grade of B- or higher can waive a ½ unit of the Business Law elective.
M.B.A. students choose a concentration. Concentration options including Accounting, Finance, Information Management and Business Analytics, Marketing and Social Change and Sustainability. Students looking for flexibility on the types of electives they take can also complete the Management concentration, which is more self designed and allows electives from different subject areas to constitute a concentration.
A Graduate Internship is required of all M.B.A. students who have less than three years work experience. No academic credit is awarded for the internship requirement.
Students are required to pay a one-time program fee of $1,000 which is assessed in the first semester of graduate study as well as a one-time enrollment fee of $100 in the first semester of graduate study. Please see the program advisor for additional GSOM fees.
