CHEM131
- Organic Chemistry I/Lecture, Laboratory
Discusses the chemistry of carbon and its compounds. The structures and reactions of related classes of organic molecules are systematically studied with emphasis on reaction mechanism and structural factors that affect reactivity. The laboratory concentrates on the preparation and physical, spectroscopic and chemical properties of these classes of compounds. Prerequisite: CHEM102 or advanced placement. In-class and final exams, laboratory reports. Ms. Erickson, Mr. Granados-Focil/Offered every year
Faculty
Karen Erickson, Ph.D. - Professor of Chemistry
Sergio Granados-Focil, Ph.D. - Assistant Professor, Carlson School of Chemistry and Biochemistry
